VENT SILENCER

Vent Silencers reduce the noise produced by the expansion of gas or steam from elevated pressures to atmospheric pressure. These absorptive silencers are used to suppress noise generated by high velocity gas streams such as steam vents, safety relief valve outlets, system blow downs and purge outlets. Each vent silencer is designed to attenuate the noise level to the required sound pressure level criteria at a given distance from the silencer. Model IVS - Acoustic Diffuser & Expansion

APPLICATION

Vent silencers effectively silence high-velocity air, steam, and gas vents and blowdowns to atmosphere where sonic or critical conditions exist in the valve or pipes. Typical applications include:

steam boiler relief valves
superheater header relief valves
boiler startup and purge
high-pressure air vents
natural gas blowdowns
switch valves
compressor blowoffs
autoclaves
steam ejectors

CONSTRUCTION

Typical vent silencers are welded heavy-duty units. The inlet nozzle and diffuser are constructed of steel and are welded. The diffuser provides controlled pressure expansion to atmosphere and uniform flow distribution through the acoustic section of the silencer. The lined inlet plenum (expansion chamber) of the silencer is designed with a double shell separated by a layer of acoustic insulation and sound-deadening material. The inner shell is solid to prevent shell radiated noise and migration of the acoustic fill. The transmission loss across the plenum and bottom head is comparable to the silencer attenuation.

SELECTION GUIDELINES

Use the following design information from the valve data sheet for system analysis and silencer selection:

1. Type of gas
2. Molecular weight or specific gravity
3. Ratio of specific heats
4. Flow rate (lb/hr, ACFM or SCFM)
5. Pressure and temperature upstream of valve and silencer
6. Maximum allowable pressure drop (PSI) for valve and silencer
7. Manufacturers name, and valve type and size
8. Unsilenced noise levels from valve (if available)
9. Silenced noise level (required at desired distance from source)
10. Silencer inlet size and pressure rating
11. Inlet orientation, axial or side
12. Silencer orientation, vertical or horizontal
13. Piping arrangement, including schematic if available
14. Other required options

STUDIO

Recording studio is a facility for . Ideally, the space is specially designed by an to control audio reflections. Different types of studios record bands and artists, and music for television shows, movies, cartoons, and commercials, and/or even record a full orchestra.

The typical recording studio consists of a room called the "studio", where instrumentalists and vocalists perform; and the "control room", which houses the equipment for recording, routing and manipulating the sound. Often, there will be smaller rooms called "isolation booths" present to accommodate loud instruments such as drums or electric guitar, to keep these sounds from being audible to the microphones that are capturing the sounds from other instruments or vocalists.

Recording studios generally consist of three rooms: the studio itself, where the sound for the recording is created (often referred to as the "live room"), the control room, where the sound from the studio is recorded and manipulated, and the machine room, where noisier equipment that may interfere with the recording process is kept.

Recording studios are carefully designed around the principles of room acoustics to create a set of spaces with the acoustical properties required for recording sound with precision and accuracy. This will consist of both room treatment (through the use of absorption and diffusion materials on the surfaces of the room, and also consideration of the physical dimensions of the room itself in order to make the room respond to sound in a desired way) and soundproofing (to provide sonic isolation between the rooms).

A recording studio may also include additional rooms, such as a vocal booth - a small room designed for voice recording, as well as one or more extra control rooms.

One of the exploitable way to reduce noise from ventilation fan is by applying Circular Silencer on to it. Being cylindrical, the silencer can be merely mounted with method of on-fan' or in-duct' type of applications. The usage and purpose of using this silencer is the same as their counterpart - duct silencer. However, circular silencer provide lesser pressure drop and the installation is fast. Noise from the fans travel in both direction - intake and discharge. It is important to install the Circular Silencer at both of these sides.

CONSTRUCTION

The casing of ISTIQ Circular Silencers are constructed from galvanized iron (G.I) sheet metal as our standard that resembles a piece of air conditioning ductwork. The inner casings are made of perforated (G.I) and acoustic infill that meets Class 0 in building regulation when tested in accordance to BS 476: Part 4: 1970 (1980), is placed in between them.

Different density and type of acoustic infill is used depending on the application to ensure excellent performance. The percentage of perforation of galvanized sheets, which hold the infill, was chosen to give the optimum overall insertion loss.

FEATURES

ISTIQ Circular Silencers are available in two different models - iP and iOP which is basically the silencer with pod and without pod respectively. Model iOP (without pod) is a straight trough design providing good acoustic performance with negligible pressure loss. For better performance, Model iP (with pod) is recommended in the application. Nevertheless the consideration of the pressure drop need to be taken into account cautiously.

DIMENSION

ISTIQ Circular Silencers are available from 300 mm diameter upwards and are supplied with flange end for direct attachment to various type of fans. The length are available in two standard sizes which are 1D(diameter) length and 2D(diameter) length. However, other length are also available on request.
