MAGNUM O2 Sensor Simulator is an indispensable upgrade if you have removed the catalytic converter or even installed a decat pipe, an aftermarket header, a free flow catback or high flow cat. The modified engine now produces a larger amount of exhaust gases than allowed. When the oxygen sensor delivers the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) a signal that is not within the manufacturer's specifications the OBD-II (OnBoard Diagnostic) system logs an error accordingly check engine light will illuminate, resulting in ECU safe / limp mode and reduced performance at the wheels. O2 Sensor Simulator is a plug-in replacement wired up to (post) oxygen sensor harness. (In case of single oxygen sensor or dual pipe exhaust system fitted with two sensors only, oxygen sensor simulator(s) wire to these sensors.) It supplies the ECU with mimic, fluctuating voltage signal and tricks the ECU thinking the emission is normal. MAGNUM Oxygen sensor simulator also referred as Oxygen Sensor Emulator does work on all vehicles equipped with 1,2,3 or 4-wire zirconia oxygen sensor and cures all catalyst efficiency and oxygen sensor related error codes resulted by exhaust modifications. Dual exhaust with two post oxygen sensors requires 2 units. The digital O2 Sensor Simulator is fully adjustable, allowing you to adjust the Air Fuel Ratio within a range is yet accepted by the ECU. You can completely eliminate or remove the stock Oxygen / O2 sensor and replace it by O2 Sensor Simulator. Magnum Oxygen O2 sensor simulator is a fully adjustable unit and fits to all engines fitted with 1,2,3,4-wire zirconia Oxygen Sensor. Please contact us before purchase if you are not sure about your vehicle's sensor type. Thank you. The Magnum oxygen sensor simulator does have a standalone adjustable heater simulator circuit as well.

WORKING THEORY
O2 Sensor Simulator chip is a controlled and adjustable signal generator with proper frequency tuned pulse voltage within an adjustable voltage range. Signals are quick enough and 'fluctuating' in the correct volt range is yet accepted by the ECU. ECU is reading standard emission. Magnum O2 sensor simulator will do its job.

INSTALLATION
1. Cut the harness of oxygen sensor. 2. See colors & operations of each wire in car wiring diagram or search for your combination in color chart below. 3. Connect the proper wires with terminals provided in the package or solder them in place. (Hydrochloric acid recommended by soldering.) 4. Contact red power wire to ignition +12V and ground the black wire to the chassis or battery negative terminal. 5. Mount the unit to any fixture as far from heat produced by the engine or the exhaust as possible. Lowest temp recommended.
Adjustment
Prior to installation, reset the ECU. When module receives +/- 12V unit is on. Basically you do not need to perform signal adjustment (1.0 Volt). If check engine light does not illuminate at all do not adjust the unit. If CEL still indicates O2 sensor signal related error code, begin Signal adjustment with the help of screw#1. 1. Remove battery + terminal and contact it to battery negative for 30 seconds to cancel ECU error code or use diagnostic tool. 2. Turn on the ignition key, status LED will light up. 3. Turn the screw#1 counterclockwise (left). 4. Start the engine, dial the screw clockwise (right) slowly. 5. Keep on adjustment steadily until signal related error code vanished. Reset might be required after each trial. Heater adjustment
1. Crank the engine, turn the screw#2 to left end position and check the check engine light. If no CEL/MIL do not dial that screw any more. 2. If CEL is still lighting, turn the screw#2 with 1/8 turns slowly clockwise (right) until heater related error code vanished. ECU Reset might be required after each trial.
Heater dial can be determined by an easy Amp test as well. Take a multi-meter and turn it to AMP mode. Contact stock sensor's one heater wire to the battery negative terminal, the red lead of multi-meter to the battery positive and black lead to the other heater wire. Check and record the AMP reading. Repeat procedure with the simulator and set the same AMP reading while dialing screw#2. Complete the wiring afterwards. If no result when reach left end, turn the screw clockwise until CEL cancelled. |
